THIS WILL BE MY THIRD VISIT TO MATCHES IN ROMANIA WITH WESTHAM,ON OUR SECOND TRIP 12 OUT OF 30 PEOPLE GOT PICKPOCKETED,WHAT TO DO .DONT TAKE WALLETS, SPLIT UP YOUR MONEY INTO FOUR ,SOME IN HOTEL SAFE, SOME DOWN YOUR SOCKS, USE BOTH FRONT POCKETS IN YOUR JEANS, DONT WEAR A WATCH WITH A LEATHER STRAP.LADYS WEAR A BODY BAG ACROSS THE FRONT OF YOUR PERSON. DONT LET PEOPLE GET TO CLOSE TO YOU, BE ALERT AT ALL TIMES,APART FROM THIS YOU ARE ALL GOING TO HAVE A GREAT TIME.

Take a photo copy of your passport,keep it in a safe place. it will save you any trouble if you lose,or get your passport nicked.chim chim cha boo, half my family are pikeys,so i know what to look out for.dont let them get to close,watch out for young kids 8-12 these are the best at dipping in your pockets

Stick your money in a small plastic bag in your shoes/trainers and hope your cheesy feet stops the thieve's getting a smell of your dosh.

I had 8 days over in Romania last summer and 4 days this year, including Bucharest, and had no problems. The key thing was that I was aware of the very things "oneiron" has pointed out so heed them well! I was offered two hooky phones in 30 mins which had clearly been lifted from someone so there is very active crime about!
Other words of advice...
Most taxi drivers are absolute scamsters with numerous tricks - meter not working - apparently agreed fares suddenly going up before you reach your destination etc. Do NOT get in a taxi if someone is hassling you for your business, use one of the recognised ones Meridian or Pelican I think in Bucharest. Preferably, get the hotel to book one.
And for those of you that dabble in a bit of fun with the ladies of the night, beware that their priority may be to lift your wallet rather than providing a "service". I've known that happen to two mates of mine and seen a bloke come into a bar and start beating up a girl after she lifted his cash. It is NOT something I dabble in before you ask!!!

Take care of people pretending to be police checking your currency...they'll flash a warrant card at you, ask to see your currency, they will flick through it and give it back to you...when you check it some will be missing :-( I speak from experience.
